Marketing genius or misplaced ad?


I visited CNN.com today to read up on news about Ohio Congressman Paul Gillmor’s death, and this news article appeared with a strategically placed banner ad to the right.  Is it sheer marketing genius or a sorely misplaced ad?

    When I worked in online advertising, we were careful about what ads appeared with which stories. The last thing you want to have happen is for your advertising customer to be next to a story that makes them look bad. That would mean no advertising dollars from them next month.
