Michael Gene (M.G.) Edwards writes fiction in the mystery, thriller, science fiction-fantasy genres as well as travel non-fiction. He first picked up his pen to write a mystery thriller far beyond the imagination of a typical ten-year-old. A prolific writer in his youth, he poured his passion to write into books and stories that bent the imagination. From mysteries to mythical tales, Edwards let his writing capture dreams spun from his vivid imagination, until life set him on a different course.
Edwards graduated with degrees in international studies, political science, history, and German from the University of Idaho and worked briefly in the U.S. Senate. He earned his master’s degree in China Studies from the University of Washington. After working at the Boeing Company for seven years, he left to earn a Master in Business Administration from the University of Washington and worked at the Intel Corporation, Microsoft, and the accounting firm Deloitte & Touche.
He served as a diplomat from 2004 until resigning from the U.S. Department of State in 2011. His overseas assignments included working as a consular officer at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, Korea; as a political officer at the U.S. Embassy in Asunción, Paraguay, where he focused on political-military affairs and human rights; and as a political-economic officer at the U.S. Embassy in Lusaka, Zambia focusing on democracy, governance, and human rights. He is recipient numerous Department of State awards.
Edwards never lost his passion for writing and opted to leave the diplomatic corps to write full time in 2011. In May 2011, he published Alexander the Salamander, a children’s e-book he co-wrote with his son Alex. His second e-book, Real Dreams: Thirty Years of Short Stories, is a collection of 15 short stories from different genres that he wrote been 1981 and 2011. His latest book, Kilimanjaro: One Man’s Quest to Go Over the Hill, published in March 2012, chronicles his quest to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. It’s the first book in the World Adventurers Series of travel adventures. He is currently working on the first book in the Wylie Brothers mystery series as well as the second book in the World Adventurers Series, Eurasia.
Edwards lives with his wife Jing and son Alex in Bangkok, Thailand. The family enjoys traveling and exploring new cultures.

/ July 3, 2012Thanks, I appreciate it! I received the VBA in April and did a post about it. Can I accept it ipso facto? http://worldadventurers.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/i-received-the-versatile-blogger-award/
I love the idea of doing something like an Oscars for bloggers (Blogscars?) but it sounds like a lot of work. Maybe something like the VBA with fewer winners (1 or 2) to make it more exclusive with some sort of reward (free ebook, etc.)
