Happy New Year to you and Jing and her family! Looks like it was lots of fun, and WOW those fireworks looked like they were shooting between buildings and over roads. Am I remembering correctly that fireworks were invented by the Chinese?

Thanks! The fireworks were totally crazy. They were igniting them everywhere — from rooftops, from windows hanging out of high-rise buildings, on the ground between buildings — everywhere. It was a 3D 360 degree show. My father-in-law and brother-in-law grabbed a 10′ pole, stuck a long string of firecrackers at one end, stuck it out their apartment window, and blew them off. Pop, pop, pop! It was so cool. The Chinese invented gunpowder and fireworks, so yep, they go a little crazy with the fireworks. My American mind kept saying, wow, look at all that money going up in smoke. :-)

Happy Chinese New Year, Mike, Jing, Alex and family! Say “hi” to your parents for us Jing! So glad you could all be together for this celebration. The fireworks video was awesome. No “Ooooh, Aaaah” there. It was more like, “Oo,ee,oo,ah,ah,jing, jang, wally, wally, bing, bang.” Kinda like being inside of a popcorn
popper! I love all the pics and posts with commentary. Wondering how candied fruit could be bad and bars with red beans could be good? Can’t wait to hear all about it! Love you lots.
